In Week 2 of the NFL season, we will get yet another NFC East battle between the Dallas Cowboys (1-0) and the Washington Redskins (0-1 ). This game can be seen on FOX on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1:00 p.m. E.T.
Cowboys at Redskins: Betting trends and tips.
The OVER has hit in four of the last five games involving the Cowboys. The Cowboys have matched up well against the Redskins in recent matchups, winning five of the last six meetings and going 6-3 ATS in their previous nine contests. Dallas has won five of its last six games against the Redskins in Washington.

Closing out their NFC East division season series, NFL Week 17 betting action features Washington visiting Dallas. One of the oldest rivalries in the NFL, the Redskins and Cowboys clash at 4:25 p.m. ET on Dec. 29, 2019, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Dallas needs a win, plus a Philadelphia loss, to claim the NFC East title.

Washington Redskins’ Recent Form.
Playing out the string, Washington is still battling down the stretch. The Redskins scored a season-high in points but lost 41-35 in overtime to Giants in New York last week. Prior to that, Washington lost a pair of close contests, 37-27 versus Philadelphia at home and 20-15 on the road in Green Bay. Washington is 2-5 SU and 4-3 ATS on the road this season.

Dallas Cowboys’ Recent Form.
With an opportunity to lock up the NFC East title on the line, Dallas lost 17-9 in Philadelphia during a dismal Week 16 performance. The Cowboys’ playoff hopes took a hit during a 31-24 Week 14 loss in Chicago but they rebounded with a 44-21 home win over the LA Rams in Week 15. Dallas is 4-3 straight up and against the spread at AT&T Stadium.

В· Defense: 11th allowing 20.3 points per game.

Dallas vs. Washington Playoff Scenarios: What’s at Stake?
Backing out of the playoff race, Dallas now needs a win and a Philadelphia loss to claim its second straight NFC East division title. The Eagles are in New York to battle the Giants. If Dallas wins, and gets help, it advances as the fourth seed in the NFC playoff standings. As a division winner, the Cowboys would host a Wild Card game next week.
Cincinnati sits last overall, with a 1-14-0 record, and has locked up the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Washington is 3-11-0 and holds the second pick slot just ahead of Detroit, who has a 3-10-1 record. The Redskins’ last three losses have been by 10 points or less, and they should draw some motivation from this being a bitter division rivalry duel.
Cowboys vs. Redskins Recent History – Week 2 Rematch.
Dallas went into Washington and posted a 31-21 victory during the first meeting back in Week 2. Dak Prescott had 269 passing yards and three TD while Case Keenum put up 221 pass yards and two TDs. The Cowboys’ ground game was also clicking as Ezekiel Elliott had 111 rushing yards and one TD. Washington has lost three straight games in Dallas.
Injury Update: Prescott Will Play – Haskins Is Out.
First injured back in Week 14, Dak Prescott continues to play through a shoulder injury and won’t practice much this week. The Cowboys starter followed a similar practice path last week before his terrible outing against Philadelphia. Also hampered by a left-hand sprain plus a right index finger injury, Prescott lacked velocity on his downfield passes and was inaccurate throughout the game versus the Eagles.
Amari Cooper isn’t on the Cowboys injury report, but he hasn’t looked right while dealing with an assortment of lower-body injuries throughout season. Cooper caught four of 12 targets, had some critical drops, and managed just 24 receiving yards against the Eagles’ shorthanded secondary. Backup LG Xavier Su'a-Filo (leg) is out, so Dallas is down to third-string left guard Joe Looney on the offensive line.
Dwayne Haskins suffered a high-ankle sprain last week and won’t play against the Cowboys. After opening the season as the Redskins starter, Case Keenum will make his first start since being benched in Week 9. Injured late last week, stud receiver Terry McLaurin is in concussion protocol and will be a game-time decision. Redskins top cornerback Quinton Dunbar has been placed on injured reserve.
Washington Covers More Than Dallas at AT&T Stadium.
This series moved from Texas Stadium to AT&T Stadium in 2009. Since then, Dallas is 7-3 straight up but just 3-7 against the spread versus Washington. The Cowboys won and covered (31-23 and 38-14) the last two meetings in Texas. The Redskins and Cowboys have both played some high-scoring games recently and, on the fast track at Jerry World, that trend continuing would not be a surprise.
Dallas vs. Washington Final Thoughts and Pick.
Facing an injury-riddled Eagles squad, Dallas backers expected more last week. They certainly didn’t get the same effort the Cowboys displayed when they blitzed the Rams 44-21 in Week 15. Instead, the Cowboys lost the time of possession battle (36:12 to 23:48), managed just 16 first downs and went 3-14 on third-down attempts. After a 5-3 start to the season, Dallas has stumbled during a recent 2-5 losing skid.
Ezekiel Elliott faces the Redskins’ 29th-ranked run defense that just allowed Giants RB Saquon Barkley to rack up 279 total yards and two TDs. Case Keenum played well when Haskins left the game last week and, led by Terry McLaurin, he has an emerging group of young receivers. Washington looks to avenge the early season loss, and knocking Dallas out of the playoffs should be added motivation. Take the points and back Washington.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Betting Predictions.
The NFC East is a dumpster fire right now as every team is at least two games under .500 and within one game of the division lead. The current front runners, the Dallas Cowboys, have a tricky matchup this week on the road against Washington, who gambled and lost last week on a two-point conversion at the end of the game. The Cowboys were thrashed by Arizona and though I don’t think Washington will dominate, Dallas is in a tailspin right now that Washington should take advantage of this week.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Betting Odds.
The Dallas offense was a mess last week against Arizona in its first game without Dak Prescott at the helm. The Cowboys had four turnovers against the Cardinals and didn’t score a touchdown until the final three minutes of the game with the outcome already sealed. The defense continued to be a disaster as well, but that at least can be overcome if the offense can click. Andy Dalton threw the ball 54 times and still only gained 266 yards, which is definitely not the ratio you want from your starting quarterback. The running game was sub-par as well at just 3.6 yards per carry and the Cowboys just looked like a team missing its offensive leader. That puts more pressure on the defense to figure it out, not that there is any sign the Cowboys are any closer to stopping teams. Kyler Murray only completed nine of his 24 attempts, but he made them count with long touchdown throws and other deep passes to exploit the porous secondary.
Washington presents an interesting conundrum for Dallas because this is a defense that ranks sixth in the NFL in terms of yards allowed. I’m a bit more skeptical on the fact Washington ranks second in passing defense because most teams are running the ball against Washington late in games with big leads, but it also should be noted. This defense will give the Cowboys problems, especially if Ezekiel Elliott hasn’t solved his fumbling problems. The bigger question is whether or not the Washington offense can exploit the Dallas defense for enough points to win. Washington has one of the worst offenses in the NFL, but then again we said that about the Giants, who hung 34 on the Cowboys two weeks ago. Antonio Gibson should have a big day for Washington and it will be a good test of Kyle Allen’s abilities in his third start for the team.
The bet on the total points in this game was set at 46, and that is a very interesting number. Dallas’ offense couldn’t score until very late against Arizona, but Washington’s defense isn’t as good as the Cardinals’ unit. Washington doesn’t have the quarterback to throw for a lot of yards against this Cowboys’ defense, but it could run the ball a lot on Dallas. Last week’s Dallas game barely eclipsed that 46-point total, so I’ll stick with the under 46 points total for -110 odds at the New Jersey online sports betting sites. As part of that, though, I’ll take the under 23 points on Dallas for -106 odds because I don’t trust this Cowboys offense to score without Prescott.

Holzhauer alternates with his fellow “Jeopardy!” legends Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter each episode as The Chaser, the trivia master trying to keep contestants from walking away with prize money.
“I’ve been hoping for this job offer ever since” that 2014 experience, Holzhauer told the Review-Journal in November when the series was announced. “The Chaser must combine two of my favorite things: trivia smarts and the persona of a pro wrestling heel.”
While only one of the three stars in each episode — Jennings is up first, with Holzhauer thought to get the spotlight next week — the remaining two are shown periodically talking smack about the contestants in the offstage Chaser’s Lounge.
“The Chase” is a difficult series to explain, but it combines the buzzers of “Jeopardy!” with the theatricality of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and a little of The Banker from “Deal or No Deal.”
It also adds to Holzhauer’s collection of nicknames, having christened him “The High Roller.”

In 1891, Dr. James Naismith was a physical education teacher in Springfield, Massachusetts who was looking for a way to keep his students busy on a rainy day. In certain situations, when a basketball player is fouled, they are awarded one or two free throws. Each free throw is worth one point. The National Basketball Association, or NBA, is the most popular professional basketball league. The NBA was founded in 1946. At the time it was called the Basketball Association of America (BAA). It became known as the NBA in 1949. Today, there are 30 NBA teams. Of those, 29 NBA teams are based in the United States, and one is in Canada.
The Boston Celtics have won the most NBA championships. The Celtics have won 17 titles. They are closely followed by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers have won 16 NBA Finals. Over the years, the Celtics and Lakers developed one of the greatest rivalries in sports. The Lakers and Celtics have been led by some of the biggest basketball superstars, including Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Paul Pierce, and LeBron James.
Few basketball superstars are more famous than Michael Jordan. Nicknamed Air Jordan, he led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships in the 1990s and was the NBA Finals MVP each time. Jordan also won five NBA MVP awards and 10 NBA scoring titles.
More recently, LeBron James has drawn comparisons to Jordan. Both James and Jordan are often mentioned in debates about who is the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time). College basketball is also a very popular sport. The annual NCAA basketball tournament is known as March Madness. There are many ways to bet on basketball. Basketball betting can take place in the form of bets on the point spread, the moneyline, and the total score of basketball games. Single Bet (or Side)
The single bet option is done with a point spread. Sports books determine a favorite and an underdog, then assigns each one with a point total. The bettor then wagers on which team he or she thinks will cover the spread.
Example:
If Kaitlyn bets on Boston, they would have to defeat Detroit by a total of 8 points in order for her to win the bet. If she bets on Detroit, they would have to win outright or lose by no less than 7 points.
Total (or Over/Under Bet)
In a total bet, the sports books decide on how many combined points two teams will score in a given game. The bettor then wagers on whether or not he or she thinks the combined number of points by each team will go over or under the total that the sports books gave.
Example:
Miami -9 Over/Under 215.
In the above example, Ian believes neither team will score many points, so he places a wager on the under. If the combined score of both Miami and Orlando doesn’t total over 215, Ian wins the bet.
Money Line.
In a money line wager, the better is only concerned with who he or she thinks will win the game. There is no point spread, but a favorite and underdog is still determined by the sports books and indicated by two separate odds.
Example:
In the above example, Dallas is favored to win over San Antonio. The numbers provided are odds that the sports books determine before the game.
If Samantha wagers on Dallas, she must risk $150 to win $100 (or $75 to win $50; $37.50 to win $25, etc). If she wants to wager on San Antonio, she only has to risk $74.07 to win $100 (or $37.04 to win $50; $18.52 to win $25, etc). For Samantha to win all the team has to do is win – it doesn’t matter by how much – and she be paid according to those odds.
Teaser.
A teaser gives the bettor an opportunity to add or subtract 4 points from the point spread or total. The catch is that two separate spreads or totals have to be wagered in the same bet in order to use the 4 points. The spreads or totals can either be two teams, two over/under totals, or a combination of the two. On top of that, both must win in order to collect a profit.
Example:
Reverse Teaser.
Unlike a teaser which awards a bettor 4 points, the reverse teaser subtracts 7 points from the spread in exchange for a bigger payoff.
Mississippi State –2.5.
Rebecca thinks Clemson is going to cruise against Mississippi State, so she sacrifices giving up 5.5 points for a bigger payoff.
Parlay.
A parlay wager is similar to a teaser in that a bettor has to bet on at least two separate odds, but is not awarded six points to either add or subtract from the point spread or total. As with a teaser, the two separate odds can either be two teams, two totals, or a combination of the two. Both bets must be won in order for the bettor to make a profit.
Example:
North Carolina State –23 O/U 115.
Georgetown –3 O/U 100.
In another example, Rob likes Georgetown and the over 100 in its game with Maryland. In order for him to win the parlay, Georgetown must cover and the combined points in its game with Maryland can’t total over 100.
Why a Parlay Over a Teaser?
While a teaser bet is more attractive to a bettor because he or she gets to add or subtract 6 points from the point spread, a winning parlay pays more. A parlay is a riskier bet, but the same $25 wager on a parlay will pay more than on a $25 teaser.
Futures.
A future bet is made before the end of the regular season or playoffs, and consists of a bettor wagering on the odds of a team winning their conference or the March Madness tournament. The more likely the chance of a team winning the March Madness or its conference, the worse the payout is for the bettor. Conversely, if the team is a long shot to win March Madness or its conference, then the bigger the payout is for the bettor.
Example:
Odds to win March Madness:
In the above example, North Carolina is considered as the most likely to win the March Madness tournament at 1/1 odds. Michigan is considered the least likely to win the March Madness tournament and therefore its odds are set at 1000/1.
Ann wants to bet on North Carolina to win the March Madness tournament. For every $1 she bets, she’ll win $1. So if he bets $100 on North Carolina at 1/1 odds and they win, she’ll win $100. If she bets $100 on Michigan at 1000/1 odds and they win the March Madness tournament, she’ll win $ 100,000.
Proposition Bets (or Props)
Prop bets are similar to future bets, but instead of wagering on the future of a team, the wager is made on individual players or game scenarios. Sports books will describe a scenario and place odds on that scenario actually happening.
Example:
Will Kobe Bryant Score 70 points in any game this season?
Karen believes Bryant will score 70 points in a game this season. For every $350 she bets, she’ll win $100. Conversely, if Mike doesn’t believe Bryant will score 70 points in a game this season, for every $100 he bets, he’ll win $500.
If Bet.
An If Bet allows a bettor to link two or more individual wagers together, but the second bet isn’t wagered if the first isn’t won. In other words, if the bettor loses the first wager, then the sports book doesn’t place the second bet.
Example:
Round Robin.
A Round Robin wager is a way to make multiple parlay bets. A three-team Round Robin consists of one three-team parlay and two, two-team parlays.

Frank likes Kentucky, USC and Washington and wants to wager on a three-team Round Robin. So Frank bets on Kentucky, USC and Washington in the three-team parlay, as well as Kentucky and USC in one of the two-team parlays, and the Kentucky and Washington in the other parlay.

Money Line.
NFL POINT SPREADS EXPLAINED:
The NFL is the most wagered upon sport in North America and it's not even close. I will spare you the grand introduction and lead you right into the mean and potatoes of this article. If you are a novice bettor who is just learning how to bet on the NFL, keep reading. If you understand the common concepts like money line, spread and totals wagering, you can skip down to the advanced wagering options by clicking here . Betting on the NFL Money Line.
As a concept, this is the simplest wager you can make on any game in any sport (except soccer). The money line betting option allows you to place a bet on the team you think is simply going to win the game. In the NFL, this bet includes overtime, but there have been a few instances where the game finishes tied at the end of OT and both sides get their money refunded.
The money line betting odds correlate to the listed point spread. In this example, the Vikings are the favorites and you must wager $200 dollars to turn a profit of $100. If you are a homer or love betting on the underdog, the Bears will return you $150 for every $100 you wager on them if they pull off the upset. If the game happens to end in a tie, bettors with money line tickets on either side will be refunded.
Betting on the Point Spread.
Regardless of if I am talking about the NFL, CFL, NCAA, Arena League or upcoming XFL, the point spread is the most popular wagering option for bettors who love to test football betting skills. The point spread is an indication of which team is the favorite and underdog heading into their matchup.
When looking over betting options for the NFL, you will come across lines that look like the following:
Depending on which side you select, your team must "cover the spread" in order for your wager to be graded a winner.
If you decided to wager on the Vikings as -2.5-point favorites, they must win by three or more points in order for wager to be graded as a winner.
One thing to keep in mind when betting on the point spread is that the point spread moves up or down depending on how much action a certain side is receiving. If you are able to lock in your bet at -2.5 and the line goes down to -1.5, your ticket would only be a winner if your team won by three or more points. If they won by two, they would have beat the closing spread of -1.5, but your odds are locked in from the time your ticket is printed or you click place bet.
Betting Game Totals.
Despite being classified as the same sport, the NFL and CFL couldn't be more different. The NFL is played on a much smaller field and gives teams three downs to make a first down before electing to punt. The NFL is generally a much lower scoring league than the CFL, but that doesn't mean that betting "unders" are the way to turn a profit in the NFL.
When looking at betting an NFL total, there should be three things you take into consideration. The first being the weather. The second is both team's offensive and defensive numbers. And the last thing is the intangibles such as is it a short week, does a team have injury problems, travel delays, etc.
Let's look at an example of a game total:
Chicago Bears/Minnesota Vikings – "Over" 38.5 -110, "Under" 38.5 -110.
If you are to bet the "over" 38.5, there must be a total of 39 points or more scored in the game in order for you to be a winner. If there are 38 or fewer points scored, then those who bet on the "under" will cash their tickets.
If totals are whole numbers such as 38 or 40 and the total happens to land exactly on the number, your bet, regardless whether it's an "over" or "under" bet, will be graded as a push and your money will be returned to you.
Advanced NFL Wagering Options.
The NFL is the most popular sport in North America to wager on. It draws in the most money among the four major sports and there should be no surprises why. Sportsbooks offer up an endless amount of wagering option to go along with the most common three wagering options; money line, spread, total. Here are some of the popular options.
This works almost exactly like the game total, but revolves around one team instead of both. With the "team total" wagering option, you are essentially betting on whether you think Team X will score more or less than the line given out by the sportsbooks.
Chicago Bears Team Total: "Over" 16.5 -110, "Under" 16.5 -110.
In this case you have two options. You can bet them to score 17 or more points or 16 or fewer. The decision is ultimately up to you. This bet also includes overtime, unless otherwise stated in the betting rules provided by your sportsbook of choice.
First Half Spread.
The "first half spread" betting option is a trickier form of betting the full-game point spread. This option takes into account the score at half time in order to determine a winner. The first half spread is usually half of what the full game spread is.
Depending on what side you are on, the score going into half time is what is used to determine a winner. If the score is 17-14 in favor of the Vikings, bettors holding a Minnesota -1.5 1H ticket are winners since they were able to cover the -1.5- first-half spread.
As I mentioned above, the first half point spread is typically half of what the full game line is.
Betting on NFL player props is a tricky situation since not all football games go according to plan. If you believe Quarterback X will complete more than 22.5 passes, but his defense scores twice and they are blowing out a team, the chances of him reaching 23 completions is very low. He will just simply hand the ball off and run out the clock.
If you think a running back has a distinct advantage of going up against a poor run defense, you may take that running back to go over the posted rushing yards line. However, if the team with the poor defense gets a sizeable lead, you can almost forget about it. That team will go into throwing mode and the running back will be the one to suffer.
Tom Brady: "Over" 22.5 completions -110, "Under" 22.5 completions -110 Jay Ajayi: "Over" 74.5 rushing yards -110, "Under" 74.5 rushing yards -110 Antonio Brown: "Over" 4.5 receptions -110, "Under" 4.5 receptions -110.
For each of these three player prop options, each player must go "over" or "under" the posted line. If you think Brady will complete at least 23 passes, you would take the "over". If you think Brown will be held to four or fewer catches, you would bet the "under".
First Touchdown Scorer/Anytime Touchdown Scorer.
This proposition is the most popular when Super Bowl rolls around. For one reason or another, people always make a big deal about who is going to score the first touchdown in the Super Bowl. I get that the first touchdown is important, but rarely does a game end with only one touchdown scored.
If you wager on the First Touchdown Scorer prop your goal is to (obviously) pick the player who will score the first touchdown.
First Touchdown Scorer Example:
As you can see, the "any time touchdown scorer" odds drop drastically compared to the first touchdown scorer. But with this prop, your player can score a touchdown in any quarter, including overtime in order for you to cash your ticket.
Futures Bets.
A futures bet is a wager placed in the time leading up to the start of the event on a team or player that you believe is going to win their respective competition. Heading into the 2018 NFL season, the Super Bowl futures odds look like this:

COLLEGE FOOTBALL POINT SPREADS EXPLAINED:
While the NFL is the most wagered upon sport in North America, college football is the most exciting brand of football you can watch on TV. The passion these kids play with is second to none and the century old rivalries amongst some of college's elite programs makes that one game a season sometime mean so much more than a national title. Since Michigan is generally out of the CFP discussion by November, there game against Ohio State is the be all and end all of their season. Michigan wants to beat Ohio State so badly, that some of the fan base would be considered there season a success if that's the only marquee win on the schedule.

Betting on the Money Line in College Football.
As a concept, this is the simplest wager you can make on any game in any sport. The money line betting option allows you to place a bet on the team you think is simply going to win the game. In college, this bet includes overtime. Unlike the NFL, college football games cannot end in a tie due to their overtime format.
The money line betting odds correlate to the listed point spread. In this example, Alabama are the favorites and you must wager $450 dollars to turn a profit of $100. If you are a homer or love betting on the underdog, the Wildcats will return you $300 for every $100 you wager on them if they pull off the upset.
Betting on the Point Spread.
Regardless of if I am talking about the NFL, CFL, NCAA, Arena League or upcoming XFL, the point spread is the most popular wagering option for bettors who love to test football betting skills. The point spread is an indication of which team is the favorite and underdog heading into their matchup.
When looking over betting options for the college football, you will come across lines that look like the following:
Depending on which side you select, your team must "cover the spread" in order for your wager to be graded a winner.
If you decided to wager on Alabama as -7.5-point favorites, they must win by eight or more points in order for wager to be graded as a winner.
One thing to keep in mind when betting on the point spread is that the point spread moves up or down depending on how much action a certain side is receiving. If you are able to lock in your bet at -7.5 and the line goes down to -5.5, your ticket would only be a winner if your team won by eight or more points. If they won six or seven, they would have beat the closing spread of -5.5, but your odds are locked in from the time your ticket is printed or you click place bet.
Betting Game Totals.
Despite being classified as the same sport, NFL and college football totals are apples and oranges. In college, it's easy to spot the teams that play absolutely zero defense. The scores from their games are typically in the 70's/80's on a consistent basis. In the NFL, there were only a handful of games that games that reached those totals. College football is more receptive to the spread offense, which is why sportsbooks have no choice but to inflate totals to try and cover their own butts.
Let's look at an example of a game total:
Texas Tech Red Raiders/Oklahoma Sooners – "Over" 78.5 -110, "Under" 78.5 -110.
If you bet the "over" 78.5, there must be a total of 79 points or more scored in the game in order for you to be a winner. If there are 78 or fewer points scored, then those who bet on the "under" will cash their tickets.
If totals are whole numbers such as 78 or 80 and the total happens to land exactly on the number, your bet, regardless whether it's an "over" or "under" bet, will be graded as a push and your money will be returned to you.
Advanced College Football Wagering Options.
Advanced wagering options in college football are nearly identical to those of the NFL. The only thing you will not find in a sportsbook in relation to college football is the "First Touchdown Scorer or Anytime Touchdown Scorer" market. Below are some of the more popular wagering options.
This works almost exactly like the game total, but revolves around one team instead of both. With the "team total" wagering option, you are essentially betting on whether you think Team X will score more or less than the line given out by the sportsbooks.
Texas Tech Team Total: "Over" 35.5 -110, "Under" 35.5 -110.
In this case you have two options. You can bet them to score 36 or more points or 35 or fewer. The decision is ultimately up to you. This bet also includes overtime, unless otherwise stated in the betting rules provided by your sportsbook of choice.
First Half Spread.
The "first half spread" betting option is a trickier form of betting the full-game point spread. This option takes into account the score at half time in order to determine a winner. The first half spread is usually half of what the full game spread is.
Depending on what side you are on, the score going into half time is what is used to determine a winner. If the score is 31-21 in favor of Alabama, bettors holding an Alabama -3.5 1H ticket are winners since they were able to cover the -3.5- first-half spread.
As I mentioned above, the first half point spread is typically half of what the full game line is.
There are only a handful of sportsbooks that offer up player props in college football, but they are nowhere near as extensive as the NFL player props. Typically, there will be props offered on one or two superstars per team and the lines will typically be inflated depending on who is playing.

For each of these three player prop options, each player must go "over" or "under" the posted line. If you think Hurts will complete at least 19 passes, you would take the "over". If you think Ridley will be held to four or fewer catches, you would bet the "under".

Vincent "Uncle Mick" Delgiudice, also pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

ORLAND PARK, IL — An Orland Park man pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday, for conducting an illegal sports gambling business and laundering the proceeds through an offshore company, according to the Northern District of Illinois U.S. Attorney's Office.
Vincent "Uncle Mick" Delgiudice, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering — which is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison — and one count of conducting an illegal gambling business — which is punishable by up to five years, the plea states. He may also face a term of supervised release, of no more than three years.
Prosecutors said the multi-million illicit operation took bets on sporting events from as many of 1,000 gamblers on professional and amateur sports including football, basketball and baseball. According to the plea, Delgiudice admitted that from 2016 to 2019 he directed an illegal bookmaking business in Chicago, Lemont, Frankfort, Orland Park and Woodridge. He and his associates accepted wagers on the outcome of the sports, including some collegiate.
U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Kendall did not immediately set a sentencing date, but a status hearing was set for March 8.
Nine other men, including Casey Urlacher, the younger brother of the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher, were accused of running an illegal sports gambling business in February 2020. Urlacher was one of 73 people granted full pardons by former President Donald Trump.
Also charged in the February 2020 indictment were Matthew Knight, 46, of Mokena, also known as "Sweaters" and "McDougal;" Justin Hines, 40, of Algonquin; Keith D. Benson, 49, of Lemont; Todd Blanken, 43, of Cary; Nicholas Stella, 42, of Chicago; Matthew Namoff, 23, of Midlothian; Vasilios Prassas, 37, of Chicago and Eugene "Gino" Delgiudice, 84, who prosecutors say helped collect debts and pay out winnings.
According to a motion filed on Jan. 21, 2021, Stella was released on bond in March 2020, and his bond was revoked, after he violently assaulted his girlfriend at the Crown Plaza Hotel on Jan. 16. His girlfriend, Veronica Michaud, said Stella tried to kill her, attempted to strangle her, hit her in the face, tore her blouse and stole her phone, so she can't call 911, and then dragged her down the hallway before finally releasing her and fleeing, according to the motion.

Betting and sports have been bedfellows for centuries. But the relations between the two have been deteriorating.
The biggest setback has come from the rise of illegal betting.
The industry has grown not just in terms of revenue, but also in its reach, and there are now fears over its influence on the outcome of sporting events.
The allegations of match-fixing across various sports have once again got sporting bodies and lawmakers across the globe worried and they are trying to find ways to counter the sector's growing might.
Your Super Bowl Squares Pool Is Likely Illegal Even Though Nearly Half The Country Has Legalized Sports Betting.

If you are thinking about hosting a Super Bowl squares pool this weekend, you may wish to think again. Even though the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act nearly two years ago, it is still illegal in most states for an individual, without a license, to operate a Super Bowl squares pool. In addition, if a Super Bowl squares pool involves participants from multiple states, the pool is likely to violate federal law.
For those who are unfamiliar, Super Bowl squares pools are very popular contests at this time each year. In these contests, fans who are planning to watch the Super Bowl purchase one of 100 boxes from a ten-by-ten matrix. After all 100 boxes are purchased, the horizontal and vertical axes of the matrix are given a random number from 0 to 9, with one axis representing the last digit of the AFC team’s final score and the other representing the last digit of the NFC team’s score. At the end of the Super Bowl, the entrant whose name is listed in the box that matches with the final digits of the final scores for both the NFC and AFC teams wins a prize—generally cash.
While these contests are undoubtedly a fun side activity while watching the Super Bowl, these contests also function as private lotteries, which arguably divert funds from state-sanctioned public lotteries as well as from legally licensed forms of sports betting. As a result, these contests are strongly frowned upon by state gaming commissions.
From the perspective of black-letter law, in most states a contest such as a Super Bowl squares pool (or boxes pool) would be deemed to constitute an illegal lottery if the contest involved three elements: consideration (generally an entry fee), prize and chance. Because Super Bowl squares pools involve randomly assigned numbers rather than numbers chosen by the contest entrants, these pools certainly would be found to be games of chance. Thus, so long as a Super Bowl squares pool includes both an entry fee and a prize, as a technical matter it is illegal for a private individual, without a license, to host a contest of this nature.
Beyond these state law risks, Super Bowl squares pools also may fall on the wrong side of various federal laws. For example, under the Interstate Wire Act of 1961, it is illegal for individuals to engage “in the business of betting or wagering [through the knowing use of] a wire communication for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce.” Thus, any Super Bowl squares pool that is conducted across state lines and includes at least one state in which the underlying activity is illegal would seem to violate the Wire Act.
